Oh Snap the weekend....
First off I want to say I had tons of fun with my kids staying with me over the Easter/Spring Break week! Their trip home could have been so much better. We get to the air port @ 7:10 for a 7:46 flight, so we were late but we left at 4:30 for a 2hr. drive to the air port, now it was raining so that could have slowed us down. (but that much..not sure) So I try to check the kids in at the drive up departure window, ended up arguing for about 15mins with the guy about the flight we had with Delta, and us having to go to Northwest to check in. His wonderful last minute words were," Oh yeah you've missed the flight!"
So now I try to get the next flight for my kids, the ticket lady now tells me that I have to paid $800 plus to get the ticket and because we booked thru expdia they would have to rebook the tickets, I call expidia and they say to book with Delta/NWA because they'll have to redo the tickets. (Thank god I took my blood Pressare meds!!)
At this point I say, Kids I'm driving you home. 20hrs one way with rest stops and I have to work on Monday, our youngest Sam (3 yrs. old) in the back and only 3 diapers but damn it I was going to get the kids home! As we start the drive back to home to get some diapers, my wives mom calls and she says she'll keep trying for an other flight! I'm calling everyone getting stuff ready for a long drive to IL. from TX., when it starts to rain, hard, like god was telling us, " slow down or I'll slow you down!" Like the forcast was for sunny skys and 70 degree weather , where the fuck does this rain come from!! But in the middle of all this we get a call from Shelley's (wife) mom she says she's got ticket...early the next day and that we can stop at home then turn around. (breath...fresh air, and I think I won't have that heart attack now!) From that point on things seem to work out fine....but our youngest Sam was scratching like mad at his hair....great LICE on top of everything else we have to go home and clean everything..thank god we have wood floors!!
